ABOUT

In 2005, torontoproject.com was registered and The Toronto Project was born. Launched initially as a static html site, various platforms were explored before settling on the current format of the site in 2009.

In 2009, we posted the following message on our site, which remains our goal:

The Toronto Project was set up to help build meaningful connections between the City of Toronto and its population – past, present and future – through the use of history. Toronto has a rich history, and it is hoped that this website will assist in illuminating the accomplishments of its people, and the strength and continuity of its diverse communities.

Our efforts have been relatively anonymous, as our sole purpose has been to serve the people of Toronto.

This website will always represent only a small fraction of our research, as part of our work involves identifying and scouring through every resource available to us, and doing our best to verify carefully any information we post on this website. Obviously, in relation to the history of Toronto, the further back one goes, the more difficult it usually becomes to establish what took place. For this reason, we will always appreciate the assistance we receive from those who identify errors in the information posted on our site.

This website relies on the contributions of people, both in terms of time as well as financially.  If you appreciate the work that is going into this site, please consider either becoming an author on this website or making a donation.  Please note that the Toronto Project is NOT a registered charity, and therefore no receipts can be issued for tax purposes.  However, please be aware that every penny contributed goes directly into maintaining and improving this website.

The current editor of this website is Roland J. Battistini.  Please contact us if you have any questions.
